Thao and Kueng to be sentenced next week for role in George Floyd murder

KARE 11, Kiya Eds reports that: “About one week after Thomas Lane, a former Minneapolis police officer was sentenced by a federal judge to two-and-a-half years imprisonment for his role in George Floyd’s murder, fellow ex officers Tou Thao (and J. Alexander Kueng) will be sentenced for Floyd’s civil rights violations.

“Kueng’s sentencing will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2007. Thao will be sentencing Kueng at the same time at 11 a.m.

The Star Tribune reported via the Associated Press: “Steve Bannon was a longtime ally to former President Donald Trump and was convicted of contempt for refusing a congressional subpoena issued by the House committee investigating Jan. 6 insurrection on the U.S. Capitol.

“Bannon (68) was convicted following a four day trial in federal court. He was convicted on two charges: one for refusing a deposition, and the second for refusing documents to respond to the subpoena. Bannon could spend up to two years prison.

From WCCO : “An 8 year old girl drowned while swimming in the Minnesota River on Thursday evening.”

According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office a family of four was swimming in the river near Sibley Park’s sandbar early in the evening.

The children were wearing life jackets at first, but they took them off as the kids played. The children jumped from the sandbar to begin to feel deeper water. Two of them, including the girl aged 8, struggled.

Willow Bense (8 years old) of rural Janesville was saved by a passer-by. However, Willow went under the water. Her mother tried to help but was swept downstream.

Insight News reports on a local spirit producer that is making waves internationally.
